Ameila Park | Fernandina Beach | Florida
NORTH AMERICA
Amelia Park is a Traditional Neighborhood Development. It is based on urban design principles that include walkable neighborhoods, public gathering spaces, mixed housing, sustainability, native plants and ecology, and quality of life. The neighborhood was designed by Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, co-founders of the Congress for the New Urbanism, an effort recognized by The New York Times as βthe most important collective architectural movement in the United States in the past fifty years.β Their firm, DPZ, is most known for the development of Seaside, the TND on the Gulf Coast of Florida, and Celebration near Orlando. Joel Embry, a local developer, retained DPZ to help plan Amelia Park, located on Amelia Island on the Atlantic Coast of Northeast Florida.
